In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner, where you will receive a comprehensive briefing on the upcoming Biennale activities and have the opportunity to network with fellow travelers. Local residents will join us for dinner, providing insights into life in Dakar and enhancing your overall experience.
Additionally, a detailed schedule of Biennale events will be shared, highlighting various activities happening throughout the city for those interested in attending.
Dakar City Tour
Start your day with a delightful breakfast served at the hotel. Prepare to explore the vibrant city of Dakar, visiting iconic landmarks such as Place de l’Indépendance, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral of Dakar, Soumbédioune Artisanal Village, the Grand Mosque of Dakar, the African Renaissance Monument, and Point des Almadies, which is the westernmost point of Africa. Take a short 3-kilometer boat ride to Gorée Island, where your knowledgeable guide will lead an exploration of its historical significance in Senegal’s rich cultural heritage. Before departing, savor authentic Senegalese cuisine at a local restaurant on the island. Upon returning to the mainland, visit the Museum of Black Civilization, established by former President Léopold Sédar Senghor. This museum showcases the contemporary cultures and histories of Black people across the continent. FREE DAY AT NGOR ISLAND
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a free day at Ngor Island. Spend your time relaxing on the beach, swimming in the clear waters, or exploring the charming island at your own pace. This tranquil paradise offers beautiful views, vibrant local culture, and the perfect setting for reflection. You can choose to dine at a local restaurant or enjoy a picnic on the beach. A detailed list of recommended activities and dining options will be provided for your convenience
COOKING CLASS
Enjoy breakfast and take the morning at your leisure. Then participate in a cooking class where you’ll learn to prepare thieboudienne, a dish recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. In the late afternoon and evening, you can attend another Biennale exhibition. Our host and driver will be on hand to assist you with any arrangements.
DAY TRIP TO BANDIA RESERVE AND LAC ROSE (pink lake)
Start your day with a delicious breakfast, then embark on an authentic African safari experience at the Bandia Reserve. Afterward, explore the mesmerizing Lac Rose (Pink Lake).
